Retro Fun Ride

Retro Fun Ride – was held on Sunday 16th February 2025

Keep an eye out for the date of the next annual Retro Ride in February 2026

This was an easy 8 KMS FUN RIDE so everyone could complete it in a leisurely fashion. They saw some of the interesting sites around the city and enjoyed part of the beautiful riverbank shared pathway including the He Ara Kotahi bridge.

There were some great photos taken which you can see on our Facebook Page.

THE RIDE DEPARTED GEORGE ST, PALMERSTON NORTH AT  10AM 0n SUNDAY 16th FEB 2025:

  • There were all types of bikes and all types of riders – bikes from 1930’s and 40’s with one being over 100 years old.
  • Not sure how old some of the riders were!
  • Quite a few children rode with their parents and had a great time.

PRIZES FOR BEST DRESSED & BEST BIKE

Many people went to a lot of effort to dress themselves and their bike in this year’s theme – Steam Punk.

Great prizes for best bike and best rider were donated by Palmy BID with a range of spot prizes from Central Bike Studio. Music and entertainment were provided by PNCC Placemakers team, so there was a real buzz in George Street.

Each rider’s registration fee of $10 resulted in a donation of over $500 to Arohanui Hospice.

51 riders participated and  showcased the joys of cycling, so please consider coming along in 2026 to enjoy the event. Read all about it here.

The Retro Ride is brought to you by the Greasy Chain Charitable Trust and supported by Palmy BID in aid of the Arohanui Hospice.
